FAMILY VACATION AT RED FISH LAKE

September 3 - 7
Our Christmas gift to the kids last year was a four-night stay at Red Fish Lake.
After a busy time packing bikes, games, toys, kayaks, boat, jet ski, food, clothes, bug spray, matches, flashlights, beach towels, chairs...we headed out on Friday, September 3rd and met in Shoshone for a picnic on the way.
Elly and Robbie were the first to arrive in Shoshone. They found a great table in the shade.

Donuts for dessert. Yum.

Ava sips some grape juice.

Grace is excited.

Lizzie looks so grown up!
Gracie and Ava are having fun.

Lizzie and Kaya enjoying each other's company

Vereni and Jake were the last to arrive for the picnic.

I'm not sure what the guys are doing?

Nicolas misses the whole picnic. He's found something more important to do.

Red Fish Lake
We arrived at the lodge late in the afternoon.

Joey is checking out the place while he waits for the keys to his cabin.

The dock and the beach would fill with people. All the cabins were sold out because of the Labor Day weekend.

Sofia is wondering which cabin is hers.
It's the one off in the distance, #41. Sofia and the rest of her family would be staying in that cabin with Grandma and Grandpa. (The cabin nearer is for Lomans and the Mohrs.)

Ava and the rest of her family are staying in Creekside #40 with the Lomans.

Beach Time

Burying Daddy

Gracie is ready for a boat ride.

Benjamin has grapes for lunch.

Kaya checks out Robbie's jet ski.

Kaya looking pretty.

Grandpa takes each of the grandkids for a ride in the kayak.

Lizzie catching some rays.

An agitated Robbie?

Sofia making sand castles

Adriana and Benjamin cruise the lake in the kayak.

Nicolas - not a happy camper, at the moment.

Cabin Time
Vereni and Nicolas play with the fat bat outside of the cabin.

Sofia thinks Ava's bike is a better size than her own, which is a little bigger.

Vereni braids Lizzie's hair.

The braided hair-do

Sofia strikes a pose.

It's Jake and Vereni's day to make the food -
Breakfast: Chilaquiles and Pancakes
Lunch: Chicken Salad Tostadas
Dinner: Chicken Enchiladas

Jake pitches in when on KP duty.

Benjamin gets close to the fireplace to warm up in the evening.

Benjamin says, "Look at me!" He is getting pretty brave on the second floor landing.

Exploring
Joey and Angie drive up the road to see the Sunbeam area.

Joey inspects the scenery.

Horseback Riding
Because of Lizzie's love of horses, Elly and Robbie and the girls went horseback riding.

Riding the trail.

Hiking
All the little ones really enjoyed the kid-friendly "Fishhook Trail."

Jake and Vereni on the trail to Bench Lakes.

They spotted this sage grouse on the trail.

Jake and Brad at Bench Lakes..elevation 9100 feet!
Dad and I made the hike the day before...without a camera onboard, but we really did do it.
Thank goodness for Ibuprofen!

Spotting Wild Animals
The deer were daily visitors. Adriana is feeding this one a marshmallow.

Celebrating!
Ava's birthday is on the 8th, but she had her party at Red Fish.
She is blowing out SIX candles this year!

Opening gifts is so much fun.

Sister Kaya is ready to help with the task.

Joey's birthday is not till the 19th. Dad and I will be in Italy then, so we gave him his gift too.
Happy FORTIETH!

We had a great time with all of you.
It warms my heart to hear you all laughing and enjoying life and enjoying being together.
Dad and I are so thankful for each and everyone of our kids and grandkids.
May God continue to bless our family.

Pete and Jenn, we are sad that you and your kids could not come.
We thought about you often, and we hope that we'll see you at the next family get-together.
